Gophers and Beetles at Mima Mounds

With gophers making conservation news lately, it seems like a good opportunity to draw attention to this article entitled:  Implications of Subfossil Coleoptera for the Evolution of the Mima Mounds of Southwestern Puget Lowland, Washington.  Published in 1997, this article by Robert E. Nelson indicates a strong relationship exists between beetle remains found at Mima mounds and the historic presence of fossorial rodents.  Find out more here.
